The ingredients are as follows:
1 cup Borax, 1 cup washing soda, 1 cup castile soap, 10-15 drops essential oil, 17 cups of water. In a large saucepan, boil 6 cups of water. Once the water begins to boil, turn off the burner and add the Borax and washing soda. Stir to dissolve. In a large, 2 gallon bucket, combine the remaining 11 cups of room-temperature water and 1 cup of castile soap. Add about 15 drops essential oil. Pour borax mixture into the bucket. Stir the mixture together. Pour the mixture into the designated storage container.
As the soap sits, the mixture may form into a gel. Also, there maybe liquid and gel separation, so stir or shake before using it in the laundry. 1/8 to ¼ cup of solution is adequate per load of laundry. Try to use this product quickly because it doesn’t have any preservatives, so there’s a risk of bacteria in the water. If you don’t think you’ll be able to use the soap quickly, cut the recipe in half.
